Floors are art, too.

As I learned this week, floors can be "art" too. SO, consider this art...valuable art. It hurts me to walk on it. I told Carol (my sis) I was trying not to walk on it and the response I got was "Carol: you haven't walked on it? are you flying around on your magic carpet?"

No, no magic carpet here but I have some great old towels and a great new rug...

Shoutout to Mom who stayed in my house for MANY MANY hours which let me get this done and Matt and Jarred for their furniture-moving muscle power...

Dance floor....

So, I've titled this one "dance floor." Why? I am having my floors redone downstairs so I am confined myself upstairs to stay out of the way (pictures of the floor to come). This may be first painting I finish in a record 2 days! It's about time. AND this is the first painting I have painted lately without a purpose in mind! I found a picture I liked and thought it would make a fabulous painting! Stay tuned...

straight from...the closet

More pictures from my visit home! I was able to go through old art bags. It was a blast. I feel like I've come a long way. For those of you who do not know, I was an art minor in college. (It was a great balance to the constant business case studies.) Each project has a story...

This was the very first fruit I ever oil painted!

I had to incorporate certain items into this project. Note: This is Brittany Spears' crotch I photocopied. There may be some foreshadowing there!

This was one of the most agonizing projects before it was due but looking back it is actually one of my favorite design projects. The words are lyrics to "Champagne High" in different fonts (one of my fav songs)!

design project

...pallet knife painting which took YEARS to dry...

...my backyard and my first attempt at an oil landscape...

Port-a-potties. No, really. We passed around a sheet of paper and people wrote down items. We had to pull those items together in a charcoal. You can thank Ryan for the subject (potties). It turned out to be the artwork that lived in my college bathroom for years.

...just working with different oil subjects...

...typical geometric project...I had to start this one over twice. I remember staying up late to complete it. I believe there are a few layers of paint under what you see!

how it all began...

When I was home this weekend I took pictures of my childhood paintings on the wall. (I had a hard time with glass reflections so the pictures aren't as good as I hoped.)

Kindergarden
2nd grade (I think)
4th Grade

I honestly think the kindergarden picture is my favorite. Pay no attention to the arm coming out of the stomach....I managed to win first place...
