Kasey's Watercolor Commission: "Just Trust Me"

Kasey came to me with a painting idea for her dental office.  She's had this picture for quite awhile and holds it close to her heart.  It depicts human nature. We want to hold onto something so small (like a teddy bear) when God has something much bigger in store. I was nervous at first since watercolors are still fairly new to me, but I am proud of the final result.  Here's to hoping Kasey (and her patients!) enjoy it for many years!

Jill's House Watercolor

Last night I finished Jill's watercolor.   It took me a couple tries to get it right.  You can see the photo I painted from below.  I took it on a visit to Seattle this past October.  You can also see the first version I painted (I was never happy with it).  Look closely and you will also see my foot warmer.

Paula's House featuring Hendrix!

I love a good painting progression.  This one is extra special not only because it is for one of my college-friend-sorority-sisters (that would have been enough) BUT also because Paula is my first Etsy sale!  This is a picture of her first house and her pup, Hendrix. Oh what fun!

Gaxiola House: Part 2

I was never proud of the first painting I made for Lora.  It was driving me crazy.  Knowing I would be in Birmingham shortly, I created another one.  This one, I am pleased with!

Rebecca's Watercolor

Today I finished yet another house watercolor.  This one is for a college friend who found my latest watercolor on Instagram.  I am keeping it hush hush because it is a surprise for a mutual friend...a Christmas surprise.  So no Instagram or Facebook.  BUT I think (hope) this is safe.

Scarbrough House

It remains a secret to my Dad (I hope this doesn't blow it) but I finished a watercolor of my parent's house in Columbus.  I've been meaning to do it for awhile and finally found a great picture from my computer i took a few years back.  I am pleased.  Mom, it will be shipped soon.  I am testing out a couple techniques on it (like how to flatten it).

I love this house so much I had my wedding reception there.  I left for my honeymoon on those steps!

This might be my favorite moment from the reception and one of my favorite pictures to go along with it!

Gaxiola House

I told Lora I would practice on her house.  And practice I did.  Watercolor challenges me!

House Watercolor

I present to you my first painting since the marriage and move (and what an appropriate subject?).  Yes, the painting is done in watercolor!  During the move I found some paintbrushes and watercolor paints from college (circa interim 2003).  Needless to say, I ended up having to purchase new ones.  Watercolor has its challenges but I had fun with my first painting.  Hunter has convinced me to practice and paint a Brody in the front yard.  So stay tuned for an update.

P.S.  Did anyone notice the blog name change? I think it has a nice ring to it!

Square Books Painting - Stages Mississippi

Mom and Dad's Oxford Condo was featured this month in Stages Mississippi (p41).  There is special mention of Square Books.  Maybe I can make it big so I can quit my day job (wouldn't that be DANDY)!
